Here we have chosen FIVE different grasses, perfect for attracting, feeding and protecting birds and wildlife in the garden. They can be fitted into the front of any border, added to pots or used to create a more modern edge to part of the garden, by gently arching onto a path. Not only will their seedheads be attractive to finches, sparrows, bunting and other small birds, they also form ideal nesting material.

The Stipa, Anemanthele and Deschampsia are evergreen so will look colourful in the garden all year round too. The Calamagrostis is a stunning vertical, taller form with pink-tinged, shimmering plumes that the small birds love. The cool-blue Panicum also remains upright during winter, wiith a mass of tiny seedheads which are a good food source for the birds.

As well as bearing edible seeds, the density of the grasses provides perfect cover for small mammals such as hedgehogs, voles and shrews. Insects including butterflies, moths and dragonflies are also regular visitors that rely on vertical stems for cover. Meadow Browns, Skippers, Speckled Woods and Gatekeepers love their soft, dry stems on which to lay their eggs.

All grasses will be in 10.5cm pots and ready for immediate planting.

Occasionally we may need to substitute any of the varieties shown for a different grass suitable for wildlife. Please get in touch if you would like to check before ordering.
